What the Percentages Mean
The 10% tornado risk area covers over 63,000 square miles. If you’re in it, that means you have a 1 in 10 chance of a tornado occurring within 25 miles of you, and some of those tornadoes could be strong (EF2–EF5).
The 5% zone represents a 1 in 20 chance, while the 2% area still spans over 122,000 square miles—tornadoes are less likely, but still possible.

📝 Overview
Rapid, intense thunderstorm development is expected this evening across the central and southern Plains, especially from central Oklahoma into eastern Kansas.
Supercells are likely, bringing the threat of very large hail, damaging winds, and strong tornadoes. Storms will grow upscale into a line overnight and move into western Missouri.

🕔 Late Afternoon to Early Evening (5–8 PM CDT): Supercells may initiate along the dryline in central OK and KS
🌆 Evening (8 PM – Midnight CDT): Tornado threat increases as storms mature in OK and eastern KS
🌒 Overnight (Midnight – 4 AM CDT): Storms may form a line and push into western Missouri with damaging winds
🌄 Pre-dawn Hours (4–7 AM CDT): Activity begins to weaken as it moves east

🟠 Central & Eastern OK into Eastern KS: Highest tornado and hail risk, especially near Norman, Tulsa, Wichita, and Topeka
🟡 Western MO Overnight: Line of storms may produce damaging wind gusts
